Sorry for the long silence

I started this blog, which is dedicated to the language, culture and history of the Ron and Kulere people, in 2008. When I started two years ago, I had more time at hand. This has changed since then, that is why I didn’t publish anything new here. Sorry for the long silence. I hope I will be able to publish more this year again. Please bear with me!

This is a short story in ron.
Naaf diin ndeh a Butura Kampani, ma ti aa mumbor. Aa ri mu ti hah, aa marah a bi set ba ta ndwei set. Nai hah ri a mashu. Nai naafi a kul aa marahi a wur ti bur. Naaf ma tot burii a nyis naafi ba ta lullis whook ii ahun yis mai a kir hah ma aa mumbori a shu. Ma whook e a findel nai nga ta sun ngaak ma tot burii.
Pls if this story is intresting correct the alphabetr errors. Thanks.

  3. @Solomon: Whow, this is great. Thanks for sending your story. I have done a few minor corrections. You will note that I have replaced a few ‘b’s and ‘d’s with ‘ɓ’ and ‘ɗ’. This is the apporved spelling for two sounds which are also found in Hausa. In addition, I have added a few ‘r’s, e.g. I have written ‘har’ instead of ‘hah’. The Butura don’t pronounce the ‘r’ sound, but it is there underlyingly. It returns to the surface whenever you add something to the word, e.g. the suffix -i. In this case ‘ha’ becomes ‘hari’. In the Bokkos and Daffo dialect of Ron, the ‘r’ is always visible.

So here is my version of your story:

Naaf ɗiin ndee a Ɓutura Kampani, ma ti aa mumbor. Aa ri mu ti har, aa mara a mbi set ɓa ta ndwei set. Nai hari a mashu. Nai naafi a kul aa marahi a wur ti ɓur. Naaf ma tot ɓurii a nyis naafi ɓa ta lulis wook ii ahun yis mai a kir har ma aa mumbori a shu. Ma whook e a findel nai ngga ta sun ngaak ma tot ɓuri.

Would you like to add a translation?
